Yeah. Especially in A Modern Myth. You would think that saying "goodbye" 17 times would sound bad, but it doesn't. Like you said, it sounds like he's crying it out every time.
My intepretation of Savior...
I'll just pretend that the person is a guy so it's easier to explain and I won't have to say he/she/him/her all the time.
I think it's about a guy who is severely depressed. He's thinking of DOING something damaging to himself, whether it's trying drugs or attempting committing suicide or something else. There are always people (parents, friends, counselors, etc.) trying to save him from the darkness he built around himself.
When he's saying all of those "until [insert words here]", he's telling all of those people that they don't understand. They haven't been through what he's been through, how can they help him? They will never understand until they experience what he has experienced. What they think he's feeling and thinking is not the reality at all.
The chorus is him telling everyone that they can't save him and to not even try. He doesn't care if they try and save him, and he won't even acknowledge it. They won't save him so why would he care in the first place? He thinks he is alone and that he is the only one that can have an impact on his life and himself.
Towards the end when he is talking about wanting this chance, it's after he has attempted to do whatever he had wanted to do (trying drugs, committing suicide, or some other self-damaging thing). He understands now that he needs help. He can't save himself. He wants this chance to live life like it should be lived again, but he already told all of those people that were trying to save him to f**k off. He wants the chance but he doesn't know if he will ever be saved. He doesn't know if he will ever have people there for him again. But at the same time, he doesn't want to be saved. The dark is inviting somehow. Maybe he doesn't deserve happiness. Maybe he was meant to live his life miserably so that others could have THEIR deserved happiness.
He's thoroughly confused about what he wants and the purpose of life. He wants this fogginess to clear up. He doesn't care anymore what happens to him. He wants someone to care and to save him, but he doesn't care at the same time which confuses him even more. He doesn't care because he knows that the chance that people will save him is unlikely, but it's also something else. He's confused about his life. He wants to be saved but he doesn't care at the same time. That's why he cries for help by saying "save me" repeatedly at the end and then adding "I don't care".
I also love 30stm for all of the symbology and hidden meanings behind everything they say (in interviews, lyrics, or anything else.
Just to make this post longer...
What do you guys (30stm fanatics) think the symbols mean? This is what I think...
Entwined Threes: Two threes, tangled together. Represents "thirty". Also represents the amount of time the journey to find yourself (to escape to "Mars") will take. It is not something that can be done quickly and easily, but it will take step after step. You have to be ready for the journey.
Clock hands pointing counterclockwise: Represents "seconds". Also represents a unit of time or just time itself. This journey takes time and patience.
Inverted Roman Numberal of 2: Represents "to". Also represents the transition between reality and Mars. Sort of the bridge between the two states of mind, or locations.
Drawing of Mars and its two moons: "Mars", or the place where you find yourself. It can also mean a state of mind, a state of discovery. Here, another journey begins. You must find your way back to reality. During this journey back, you will find that you know who you are and you know your purpose. You came back a better person.
