Greetings, Adanil. First question - Were you always the adventurous one in your village? Have you ever gotten into trouble for it?
Sparrowhawk - What was your inspiration for Adanil? Was he just spur of the moment or did you have plans for him from the beginning?

Adventurous? No, I was never the adventurous one. Jor was the most adventurous, always wanting a taste of something more. I had no more desire for it than any of my other friends, which was still quite a lot. I simply had a better chance at pursuing adventure. When I found a small sack of gold and jewels in the forest, my fortunes became infinitely better. I was able to afford training in swordsmanship, and to get my own sword made. My dream of adventure, that I never really expected to happen, was suddenly a lot more attractive-sounding than plowing Da's fields.
I don't think I've gotten in any more trouble over the adventurous bit of my spirit than any other lad my age in the village. More than a few and less than a lot, I'd say. It was a lively village.Adanil would probably never have existed if it wasn't for Melda's brilliant suggestion on MSN. From there, I worked the rest of him out, though it was mostly thought up while I was actually writing his first post. For once, I went backwards in thinking it up--his name was the last thing I thought up, and it was completely random. I still cringe at hearing it, too. I don't like it much. However, I have developed plans for him, certain things that might affect him or others that I will play

You grew up in an isolated community, but you've seen much these past few days. What is your reaction to the corruption and majesty of the rest of the world? Are Merrin and Kendath anything like the heroes you've imagined in the stories? Did you believe in good and evil? If not, do you now?
Sparrow - Would you say that Adanil's your alter ego?

The world is not much at all of what I had imagined. Corruption and crime are worse than I had believed, but grandness and majesty are both more than I had imagined. The contrasting parts of Baste and Port Dragonhelm are both overwhelming--they seem so.....opposite. It's all a little much for a former farmer like me. I never believed the tales where they described how tall the buildings were. I find it amazing, but I hope I will get used to it soon. I can't afford to be distracted.
Merrin and Kendath do seem caught up in great events of some sort, and I with them, but I do not know what it is, though I have my suspicions. They do not seem much like the heroes I heard about all my life, though. They're much too.....close, to be heroes. Still, it's those who write the stories who label people heroes, so maybe they are. And that ties into the next question. They seem to be definitely on the side of 'good', and I would say that the Shadowers are their opposites. They are more evil than anything I ever heard of, though I don't suppose I really believed in good and evil before the Dragonriders came.
Adanil does draw some of his personality from me, for sure, but a lot of him is pulled from my favorite characters of books and such. Still, he is very close to an alter ego for me. I think I would [re]act much the same way he does under the same circumstances.

Would you forsake it all to return to life as a simple villager, even after you consider your vengeance dealt? Or would you rather become a dragonrider?
